I find this show to be very gritty and dark, just the way life would be in The Zombie Apocalypse. It looks like the main characters are lasting longer than they did in Season 1. There are some continuity problems, but that is easily overlooked. The show is very entertaining and should keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Citizen Z is an interesting character. He seems to have all sorts of issues, both mental and with Zombies, but overall seems to be a good guy. All of the characters in the party seem to serve some sort of critical function. The leader Warren really keeps the group together by cracking the whip. For a group to survive an ordeal like this a strong no nonsense leader is a priority. Murphy is an interesting character. One moment, you want him dead and the next moment he is doing something well. Addy and 10K seem to have grown in their roles since Season 1. I prefer this series to the Walking Dead. …because I do–-like (or more like love) both TWD and Z Nation. I'm of the batch that saw the previews of Z Nation on SyFy and immediately declared it horrible. A zombie baby?! NOPE. And to be fair, I still wasn't impressed with that baby when I saw it, BUT I have been surprisingly impressed with everything else. Yes, the effects are cheaply done. No, I absolutely don't care. The pacing is perfect, the acting is refreshingly good––i.e. natural and not overwrought like sometimes TWD performances can be––and it's FUNNY which is something you really, really need when dealing with such a dour subject matter. Because let's be honest, no matter how mainstream it becomes, getting eaten by an undead person isaboutdourthings can get. I appreciate that it deals with what one does after the zombie apocalypse, instead of muddling through all the moral dilemmas of being a survivor; TWD is for the muddling anyway. I've been justgenuinely scared and distressedI would be with any other zombie media; I've also genuinely laughed out loud. The show also does a good job of being relevant–-referencing recognizable situations, social media, etc, that the audience can relate to. I particularly liked the nod to Sharknado. In summation, don't be like I was––i.e. so tight that if you put a lump of coal up my a$%, in two weeks it would turn into a diamond. Relax, appreciate Z Nation for what it is, and love zombie shows for the reason that you do: because they're scaryeff and FUN.
